This tablets include montelukast sodium, which is a discriminating and orally active (can be taken in tablet form) leukotriene lateral-line-organ antagonist, which means that it fixes to specific receptors on the compartments of the airways and also cells in the airways that are included in the medicinal-drug process (like macrophages), and prevents the action of leukotrienes, (chemicals produced by medicinal-drug cells like mast compartments that mediate inflammation) on these compartments. Leukotrienes are included in the pathophysiology of asthma and hay-fever.
